Whilst creating this directory we came across lots of webpages posted by dedicated Cumbrians about their local area.

Many of these websites are hosted on free webspace given out with dial up accounts from years ago.

As people move to new routes of accessing the internet many of these free webspace accounts will close, and we will loose all that information, that so many Cumbrians spent so much time collating and uploading.

It would be a tragedy to loose so much local knowledge, and so we would like to offer these web pages a permanent home before they disappear forever.
